AT&T, the company that owns Cingular, has had 1 million inquiries from people in the US who want to buy the iPhone. The news is pretty amazing when you consider that the iPhone was only announced in January and won’t be in the shops until June.
Cingular are directing customers to its website where they can register to receive updates about the iPhone and its availability.
“One million people have asked us to call when this phone is available,” Cingular CEO Randall Stephenson said in his keynote speech at the CTIA wireless technology conference this week.
Apple intends to sell 10 million iPhones and judging by the initial interest will seel far more than that figure. The iPhone with 4 gigabytes of flash memory will cost $499, while the 8-gigabyte version will cost $599.
