Apple iPhone is here at last

After what seems like years of waiting the Apple iPhone was finally announced today at the Macworld keynote in San Francisco.

Before we get to the photos lets look at exactly what the iPhone will be able to do and the key aspects of its revolutionary interface.

One of the main differences to a standard mobile phone is the lack of buttons. Apple have opted for a 3.5 inch 480 x 320 colour touch screen with a graphical icon driven menu so you can click through the applications with your fingers. Scrolling is carried out by dragging your finger across the screen like the touch pad on a laptop.

The iPhone can be used for viewing videos on the high quality screen and listening to albums and has an amazing Cover Flow interface to scroll through the albums and video thumbnails on the screen.

Apple have also made sure the iPhone integrates perfectly with Google Maps so you can use it to get directions wherever you are.

A full QWERTY keyboard with advanced predictive text will make sending messages very easy once people get used to the new interface.

The iPhone will be available in 4Gb and 8Gb versions and is equipped with Bluetooth, Wi Fi, and runs OSX. It will be available in the US by July and the UK by December.
