Blackberry Pearl

The Blackberry Pearl is one of the smallest and most stylish smartphones available. Its QWERTY keyboard and large screen makes sending emails and browsing the internet easy and the business features are far more advanced than other phones of this size.

Our Blackberry Pearl Review

Blackberry Pearl
Most people think of the BlackBerry as a feature packed smartphone for business users who don’t need something that fits in their pocket. The BlackBerry Pearl breaks free from the standard BlackBerry stereotype by being the same size as a standard mobile phone and yet still offering much the same smartphone experience as its larger relatives. With its polished edges and great build quality the BlackBerry Pearl is certainly eye-catching.

Measuring 107 x 50 x 14.5mm and weighing just 89.5 grams the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 is one of the smallest smartphones available. With a large high quality colour screen and advanced internet browser, email client and messaging services the Pearl is a complete business and personal device.

The screen is light sensitive and auto adjusts the contrast making for optimum viewing in darkness and bright sunlight. A SureType keyboard provides a QWERTY style keyboard by adding keys at either side of the standard numeric keys and is simple and quick to use. A central navigation key allows users to browse the intuitive menu system with ease.

Thanks to the integrated RIM wireless modem and quad band connectivity users can browse the web anywhere in the world. Battery life is good at 3.5 hour talktime and 360 hours standby and the internal memory of 64MB can be expanded using a MicroSD memory card. Connectivity is as you would expect with Bluetooth, USB and GPRS/EDGE for fast internet and email access.

As well as the business functions the BlackBerry Pearl has a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with flash and digital zoom as well as dedicated camera keys.

Also included is an MP3 player so you can store and access your favourite music tracks. The hands free speakerphone can be used to play MP3 files out loud and MP3 files can be added to contacts as personalised ringtones if required.

Messaging is what the BlackBerry became famous for and users of the Pearl can receive SMS, MMS and email messages as well as instant messages on their phones with ease. Email attachments such as Word, Excel, PDF and Powerpoint can be viewed using the built in document viewer.

Our favourite application was BlackBerry Maps, a function offering details maps in case you are lost or need some quick directions anywhere.

For those of you wanting a smartphone that has high end features without being too big for your pocket the BlackBerry Pearl is the best phone available.
