Yesterday the Samsung BeatDJ M7600 launched in the UK and it’s already proving a hot seller according to a few insiders we’ve spoken to.

This is a real music phone with 3.2 MP camera, beat DJ feature and loads of extra features.
The unusual ‘pill’ shaped M7600 is a compact phone and a clever piece of design. It weighs just 99 grams, making it very light, and measures 112×51x13.9mm, so you’ll never have a problem slipping it into your pocket and forgetting about it until it’s needed. The curved ends of the phone itself conceal the stereo speakers, which are enhanced by Bang & Olufsen ICEPower, giving a far better sound when the phone is facing you in landscape orientation, while sitting on the end is a 3.5mm jack plug for your own headphones.
However, it won’t be the pretty design or friendly OS which attracts anyone to the Beat DJ, it will be the flashy music player and its ability to let you create your own tracks! The music player itself has been specially created for the M7600 and takes advantage of the circular control at the base of the touchscreen, which overlaps on to the actual handset case. This iPod-like control deals with the track forward/track back commands, while the display replicates this circle in its centre, allowing you to skip through the song playing. By turning on the Beat DJ feature, this control then lets you scratch, add filters and sound effects plus make fine adjustments to any customisation you’ve added. It’s intuitive enough and with some practice, keen DJ’s should be able to create something quite impressive, which can then be recorded on to the phone.

Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Omnia HD at MWC – we previously thought this was going to be called the Acme but Samsung has gone for the tried & tested Omnia name.
The Samsung Omnia HD and HTC Touch Diamond 2 were unveiled at Mobile World Congress. What do they have to offer compared to the predecessors?
At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, HTC took the wraps off their newest phones based on the HTC Touch design. The HTC Touch Diamond 2 (and the accompanying HTC Touch Pro 2) is a feature bump to the original, popular HTC Touch Diamond phone.
Like the original, the new HTC Touch Diamond 2 (specs) is a Windows Mobile phone with an improved graphical interface running on top. In this case, HTC has improved the already-impressive TouchFLO 3D interface, and the new HTC Touch phones will be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 later this year. This upgrade will be free to existing owners, and will for instance add Internet Explorer Mobile 6, Windows Marketplace and the new My Phone cloud service for mobile backup.
At the same time, Samsung announced their newest all-touch smartphone, the Samsung Omnia HD (specs). While the original Omnia was a Windows Mobile device, the new Samsung Omnia HD is a Symbian device running a touch-friendly interface. In fact, the Omnia HD will use the same Samsung TouchWiz interface that we saw on the original Samsung Omnia. The interface relies heavily on desktop-like widgets, and screenshots of the new Samsung Omnia HD show that the phone will retain this design paradigm, albeit on top of Symbian S60.

Update: It seems Samsung Acme was just a code name and the i8910 will actually be called the Samsung Omnia HD
The breaking news today is that a new touchscreen phone from Samsung called the Samsung i8910 is about to be announced at MWC this month.
The Samsung i8910 has been leakeed by Gaj-It.com and will be available in 8GB and 16GB versions.

It is rumoured that it will include a 8 megapixel touchscreen cameraphone, which is no surprise for Samsung’s standards. As well as attracting the click happy bunch, it also includes GPS, HDMI, WiFi, 3.5mm socket, is DNLA and DivX compatible and offers HD recording. It will come in 8GB and 16GB versions and is expected to be a bit on the pricey side.
We’ve known that Samsung are planning around 11 devices for release at MWC this month for a while, the Samsung Loches was another rumoured device with very high specifications. The Loches is a 12.8mm thick slider handset with a black and orange colour scheme. Reminds me of Sony Ericsson’s Walkman phones, however their use of orange was a bit more subtle! It has a duralumin body with anti-scratch and anti-fingerprint coating. It features a 2.8inch OLED touch screen with a WQVGA resolution and 16 million colours, as well as a 12-key keypad.

A brand new smartphone is about to hit the UK called the Samsung Loches S8300. We first heard about the S8300 back in December but thanks to a leak this week the full name of Samsung Loches is now known.
Apparently the Loches will be announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 16th with a launch date of March 2009.

It uses Samsung’s TouchWiz finger friendly interface, featuring various widgets for a customisable home screen and has an accelerometer for auto rotating webpages, camera, pictures, etc.

We are hearing rumours that the Samsung Pixon is coming to Phones4U stores this week, possibly on Thursday. Initially it’s likely the handset will be on the Orange and O2 networks.
Samsung Pixon” />
The Pixon was supposed to arrive in October so it’s a couple of weeks late. Samsung have been doing quite a bit of marketing for this phone so it will be a popular handset.
Apparently this is going to be one of Samsungs hottest phones and most retailers are predicting it could be the top selling Samsung for the next 6 months. Certainly if the success of the Tocco is any thing to go by they won’t be far wrong.

A sleek phone full of features the Samsung i900 Omnia is the ultimate phone to rival high end devices such as the iPhone. With HSDPA and 8GB memory as well as Windows Mobile 6.1, GPS navigation and geo-tagging it’s no wonder this is a top selling device.
