Charge your phone by jogging

by Patrick Altoft on August 1, 2006

A 19 year old Indian has spent five years designing a method of charging a mobile phone while jogging using a device built into a pair of running shoes.

The shoes contain a dynamo that converts the kinetic energy of the wearer into electrical energy. An AC current is produced and converted into DC current at around 6 volts.

Pankaj Sharma said, “These are very helpful for power hit areas and they can charge your cell within an hour’s time.”

Sharma is hopeful the device could be used to help the army and other organisations who need communications but have little or no access to an electricity supply.
