iPhone could be released as soon as April

Unconfirmed rumours are circulating about the likely release date of the Apple iPhone. Although Apple and Cingular are publicly standing by a release date in June employees close to Cingular have been told it could be as early as April and will not be later than May.

Other reputable sources have confirmed that the FCC and any Cingular issues with hardware and software would easily be resolved before a May launch date.

Some of the most compelling evidence comes from the Far East with sources such as the China Times reporting production during the first quarter of this year. If the iPhone is already in production it would indicate that all hardware and software issues have been resolved.

Manufacturers Foxconn are predicted to be able to ship the iPhone by the end of the first quarter if required leading many to believe the June release date is conservative.

In the past Apple has not been known to alter its launch dates significantly but releasing the iPhone a couple of months early would be amazing publicity.
