Our LG Chocolate Pink Review

LG Chocolate PinkOne of the most stylish phones of 2006 the LG Pink Chocolate sold 6 million units in just a few months. This hot pink version is almost as popular as the original version and is only available at certain outlets. The handset has a touch sensitive navigation keypad which can only be activated by a warm touch which neatly prevents the phone being activated accidentally in your pocket. The keypad also cleverly disappears when not in use leaving a sleek black case with a red glow around the keypad area.

The design is nice and compact at 95 x 48 x 15.2 mm and just 83 grams. 128Mb of memory is adequate on a phone of this type and should allow you to save any photos or emails as you wish.

A high resolution 256k colour TFT screen is activated at the touch of a button and a nice slide open design reveals the keypad. A 1.3 mega pixel digital camera makes use of the screen as a viewfinder and has a 4x digital zoom and useful built in flash. Most users should steer clear of the digital zoom as this may reduce the quality. A dedicated camera button gives instant access to the camera so you will never need to miss that great shot again. Photos are stored in an easy to access photo album on the memory card. One very useful feature is the perfect shot mode whereby the camera takes 9 consecutive images when you take a photo. You can then select and save the best image from the 9.

The camera also doubles as a great video camera and player to watch downloaded 3G videos on the quality colour screen. There are lots of settings in the video mode so you can be sure to capture the perfect picture.

Customisation of the LG Pink Chocolate is much the same as any other modern phone with downloadable screensavers, themes and wallpapers. A caller ID system allows you to add a photo to each contact so that the image shows up every time the contact calls or sends a text message. The Chocolate also supports both MP3 and polyphonic ringtones which can be customised to suit whoever is calling.

The Pink Chocolate phone supports SMS and MMS messaging so users can send photos, sounds, emoticons and texts to compatible phones.

One of the best features is the built in MP3 player which supports a variety of music formats and provides non stop entertainment. Access to the player is via a dedicated music button and the heat sensitive touch pad makes controlling the phone very simple. A great addition to the music player is a remote control and stereo speakers so you can play music to your friends – not something you see on every device at this price.

LG have given the Pink Chocolate tri band capability which allows it to work over GSM 900, 1800 and 1900. This will allow the phone to be used in the UK, Europe and the USA.

In terms of connectivity there is a Bluetooth connection so you can share files and tunes wirelessly and also a USB PC link cable to allow downloading and uploading of ringtones from your PC and data synchronisation with Outlook.

Internet access is via a WAP browser and the phone is pre-programmed with a list of useful mobile sites built in.

  • 1.3 Megapixel Digital Camera
  • Video Recording & Playback
  • Vibration Alert
