A mobile phone with in integrated breathalyser is about to go on sale in the UK.
Manufactured by LG the LP4100 will include tests to make sure the user is fit to drive a car and will also have a lock out feature for certain number to stop those drunken late night phone calls to your boss, parents or ex girlfriend. If a user is found to be over the drink drive limit the phone helpfully suggests that they should order a taxi.
LG is targeting the device at young drinkers who are looking for a fun way to measure their sobriety before getting behind the wheel or making a call.
The phone has already sold 200,000 units in South Korea and its easy to see why it will be a hit in the UK as well.
A Korean student who bought the device said recently: “You breathe into the phone and it’ll let you know how intoxicated you are. It sounds simple but I was testing one after drinking a bottle of Jack Daniel’s (whiskey) when I vomited all over the phone.”
