A Californian man has been severely injured after a mobile phone caught fire in his pocket, fire department officials said.
Luis Picaso, 59, is in a stable condition with burns over 50% of his body. Apparently the phone caught fire and caused £40,000 worth of damage to a hotel room and business premises below.
Flames spread and ignited his clothes and then a plastic chair.
The manufacturer and model of cell phone has not been made public.
