The number of people using a mobile phone to access the internet continues to grow, according to figures announced today.
An overall total of 45.6 million unique users were reported as using their mobile phone for downloads and internet browsing during October, November and December 2006.
The highest figures were reported in December when 15.9 million unique users accessed the internet. This figure is likely to be due to the high tech mobile phones being given as Christmas presents along with using Sky+ to record festive TV shows via mobile phone. Mobile internet use is also boosted at Christmas party time with taxi and hotel searches.
As mobile internet use increases more companies are providing local services and with greater market this is bound to increase further in 2007.
