A recent report published by the London School of Economics and commissioned by the Carphone Warehouse reveals that mobile phones really are changing our lives.

16,500 people were surveyed about their mobile phone usage and some suprising statistics emerged.

More than 50% of the 18 to 24 age group had been asked out on a date by text message and just as many have exchanged explicit texts with a partner. 53% believed that texting behind your partners back is also a form of cheating. Conversely 14% admitted to contacting somebody via text behind their partners back and 25% had dumped a partner by text message.

Young women use the phone as a social aid with the fake emergency phone call being used by 54% to get out of dates.

Texting is the most popular use of the mobile phone with an average of 3.6 texts being sent compared to 2.8 phone calls per day.
