Motorola Patents Accessible Phone

by Patrick Altoft on May 6, 2006

Motorola have patented a mobile phone which detects if it is being used by elderly person and adjusts automatically.

According to the patent Motorola intend to create a phone that analyses your voice patterns and increases the incoming and outgoing call volume as appropriate. The phone will also adjust the navigation menu and font size to make it easier to use.

Although accessibility is a must if Motorola are to market a phone for the elderly this appears to be a bit too clever for its own good. Most phones are owned by the same person for a long time and the ability to adapt for different users would appear redundant.
