Our Motorola V3x Review

Motorola V3x
The RAZR phones from Motorola have been some of the most popular phones on the market for some time now and they keep getting better as Motorola release newer models with improved features.

Sensibly Motorola have not altered the looks of the RAZR much in this latest version the Motorola V3x. Its sleek black casing and flip open design adds a nice feel to the phone and looks great. As you may have guessed from the name the V3x has 3G connectivity so you can carry out face to face video calls and make the most of a fast internet connection.

The keypad has the usual metallic finish and is easy to use thanks to the way the keys are flush to the surface. The handset is 99 x 55 x 19.8 mm and weighs 125 grams which is much the same as the other RAZR models such as the RAZR V3i and the Moto RAZR V3.

Motorola have added a second screen to the outside of the phone so you can see who is calling without needing to flip open the casing. The external screen has 65k colours and a resolution of 96 x 80 pixels. Inside the phone the screen is a much higher quality with 262k colours and 240 x 320 pixels.

A 2 mega pixel digital camera is integrated into the V3x and it is capable of some great quality images. An 8x digital zoom allows you to get up close to your subjects and a macro mode works well for close up shots. Camera photos are saved onto the 64 Mb internal memory card which can be expanded up to 512Mb if required. A secondary VGA camera above the phones internal screen captures an image of the users face for use in 3G video calls.

Both SMS and MMS messages can be sent on the RAZR V3x along with emails and even instant messages thanks to the built in MSN style messaging client. MMS messages can contain multimedia clips including videos, images and sound clips and can be sent to any compatible phone or email address.

As well as 3G the Motorola RAZR V3x has tri band availability so it will work over GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 and switch between them automatically. A Bluetooth connection is a nice addition and allows you to transfer songs and data to other nearby phones wire free. Internet access is via an advanced WAP browser which works quickly and has a good navigation system.

Motorola have included an MP3 player which can play AAC and WMA files as well as movies and other audio formats. The stereo surround sound speakers are excellent and are capable of producing surprisingly loud music as well as making a useful handfree system.

A selection of pre installed themes allows you to customise the handset to your tastes. Also included are a selection of 3D Java games for your entertainment as well as a voice activation system so you can control the phone without using the keypad.

The Motorola V3x is the latest incarnation of the RAZR series which has been hugely popular. The added features and same RAZR style makes this phone a great buy.
