New software to make secure encrypted mobile phone calls

by Patrick Altoft on August 14, 2006

After last weeks phone tapping scandal involving members of the royal family and certain tabloid newspapers a new software has been announced to encrypt mobile phone calls.

One Day Mobile will allow users to make secure calls on 2.5 and 3G smartphones using military technology. After installing the software phones can make calls over GPRS rather than the standard networks without risk of eavesdropping.

With GPRS there is no guarantee of call quality but if users are only using it for certain calls there should be no real complaints.
