Nokia has unveiled a new smart phone based on the leading Symbian S60
operating system. The Nokia 6290 is an ergonomically designed modern
phone with a mid range price point. We understand the 6290 will be
released early in 2007.

The Nokia 6290 is aimed at busy professionals who need a feature
packed handsets. Quick Cover access keys allow instant access to a
wide range of features including 3G, integrated search engines and
interactive travel applications. An ergonomic keypad and easy to use
menu structure are what will se this phone apart from other
smartphones.
Kai Oistamo, from Nokia, stated:
Simplicity is what makes the Nokia 6290 smartphone so smart. The
Nokia 6290 combines the collective power of S60 3rd Edition and 3G in
an easy-to-use, attractively designed package. With the 3G subscriber
base expected to double over the next year, there is a strong need for
3G models like the Nokia 6290 smartphone in our portfolio.
Standard Nokia 6290 features include:
- Quality 2 mega pixel camera with digital zoom
- MP3 player with stereo surround sound
- 2.2 inch 16 million colour screen
- Two way video calling
- Email support for PDF, Powerpoint, Word and Excel attachments
- 3.5 hours talk time
- 10 days battery time
Nokia have not used this software on a mid range smartphone before so
the 6290 will open up a world of possibilities including navigation
and powerful business applications.
