Nokia handsets account for over half of all mobile phone thefts

by Patrick Altoft on August 3, 2006

Nokia is easily the biggest mobile phone manufacturer and this statistic is reflected in recent figures about mobile phone theft.

The Nokia 6230 was the most stolen phone with 15.4% of thefts, Samsung were next with the D500 at 8.2% and Motorola were third with the RAZR at 5.4%.

Nokia had the most desirable phones and they accounted for over half of all mobile phone thefts. Samsung was second and Sony Ericsson was third with 13.3%.

These figures are likely to just reflect the popularity of various phones rather than thieves actively targeting certain phones.
