Our Nokia N70 Review

Nokia N70Part of the very popular Nokia Nseries the Nokia N70 is a very stylish 3G smartphone.

The silver coloured casing has a smooth finish and the keypad is well positioned and very user friendly. A large screen makes the phone easy to use and the dimensions, while not as small as some phones at 126 grams and 109 x 53 x 22 mm, the N70 is still quite slender for a 3G smartphone.

With a large 176 x 208 pixel 262k colour screen and a 2 mega pixel digital camera the N70 makes a good high end camera phone. The 20x digital zoom and automatic flash combine with a number of modes including fully automatic still mode, sequenced mode and video mode. The video mode can record, play back, edit and store a large number of clips. If you want to save on memory space the camera can be reduced from high quality to normal or basic but with the large built in memory there should be no problem with disk space. A number of other modes such as scenery, sport, night and portrait allow you to set the camera up perfectly for the conditions. Video calling is possible thanks to the 3G connection and VGA camera which allows you to have face to face video calls at the touch of a button.

Nokia have included a useful XpressPrint feature so you can connect to a compatible printer with either the USB cable or a Bluetooth connection and print your photos with using a PC. A photo blogging feature similar to the Sony Ericsson K800i allows you to upload your photos directly to a blog for your family and friends to view.

As well as the camera the Nokia N70 includes a media player with FM radio and RealPlayer software so you can listen to music all day. MP3 files can be used as ringtones and the FM radio has a nice visual radio feature so you can see the station you are listening to.

A hands free speaker phone with voice dialling and voice commands is useful for in car use and the conference call feature means you can speak to up to five friends or business colleagues at the same time. A push to talk feature works like a 2 way radio so you can control the conference conversation.

The Bluetooth connection makes communicating with other wireless devices nice and easy. The Nokia N70 has tri band GSM so it can be used in most countries - check your network for full details.

As well as standard SMS and MMS messaging the N70 has a good internet connection and the browser renders sites very well on the large screen. Instant messaging and a powerful email application are great for staying in touch with the latest news. A number of Java games are included and more can be downloaded from the internet.

The Nokia N70 is one of the top camera phones on the market. Other great phones in the Nseries include the Nokia N71, Nokia N73, Nokia N75, Nokia N80, Nokia N90, Nokia N91, Nokia N92 and the Nokia N93.
