Another Nokia N95 clone has surfaced today, this time the manufacturers have cunningly used a different name to avoid upsetting Nokia (the last N95 clone was called the Nokia-N95).
The MB1500 is actually a very nice device, assuming everything works smoothly, and includes a 5 mega pixel digital camera with Carl Zeiss lens and 3.5 inch touchscreen. Video calling is very high quality thanks to a second 1.3 mega pixel camera above the 262k colour screen. Amazingly the phone only weighs in at 65 grams which leads me to believe the manufacturers have been taking some shortcuts somewhere. The real N95 weighs 120g.
We find it quite amazing that so many manufacturers are willing to risk legal action to build devices like this when they could so easily create their own phones and build a real business. Imagine if this company had released a 5 megapixel handset with a 3.5 inch touchscreen 2 months ago and not tried to copy Nokia.

Why is this regarded as an N95 clone?
It doesn’t look like an N95, its a brick form factor rather than slider, its running Windows Mobile not Symbian, it doesnt use a Nokia series type name, its screen is bigger and its a touch screen/stylus device.
OK so its using a Carl Zeiss optics unit, as do various brands of digital cameras, not just Nokia.
Seems to me that these guys have created a nice device without any reference to Nokia at all.
