Nokia N95

The Nokia N95 is by far the most advanced mobile phone ever made. With a GPS and Sat Nav feature with European street level mapping it can replace stand alone satellite navigation units easily. The 5 mega pixel camera, 2Gb memory card, FM radio and HSDPA broadband internet connection top off this amazing package.

Our Nokia N95 Review

Nokia N95
Marketed as the most advanced mobile phone ever the Nokia N95 is a stylish 3G smartphone with a 2 way slider mechanism making the most of its relatively small size.

Slide the phone up to reveal the keypad and slide down to reveal multimedia controls or leave the phone in its closed position and use the external navigation and shortcut keys. The large 240 x 320 pixel colour screen has a 16 million colour resolution and measures 2.6 inches. Usefully the screen can be used in landscape mode which works well for internet access and watching videos or viewing photos.

Despite the number of features the N95 only weighs 120 grams and measures 99 x 53 x 21 mm. Memory is expandable thanks to a 2GB memory card slot and an internal 160 MB memory keeps phone numbers separate from the main memory card.

By far the best feature on the N95 is the built in GPS navigation system. It’s the first phone in the UK to have GPS and will no doubt be very popular. Maps are included from hundreds of countries and are displayed on the high quality screen. The GPS pinpoints your location to within a few metres and the navigation software can direct you to almost anywhere in the world.

The N95 runs on the tried and tested Symbian S60 operating system which is the most popular for smartphones. Applications included on the S60 system are photo and video editing programs as well as music and multimedia players.

Internet access is super fast thanks to the HSDPA connection which runs at broadband speeds. An advance d XHTML browser combines with the large screen to make using the internet almost as easy as on a PC. Connectivity is as good as it gets with USB, Wi Fi and Bluetooth as well as Infra red.

Despite the multitude of features the N95 still has 220 hours standby time and around 6 and a half hours talktime.

A 5 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens makes the Nokia N95 one of the best camera phones ever made. The built in automatic flash and auto focus features are very advanced and give high quality photos and DVD quality video recording. Additionally a secondary VGA camera makes face to face video calls a reality over the 3G connection.

Music features are also included with support for MP3, AAC and WMA files. A visual RDS FM radio allows you to see the station name on the screen as you listen as well as track details and artist information. The headphones included in the package are of very high quality and the multimedia buttons made the N95 a perfect MP3 player. An easy to use music manager feature allows you to copy tracks from your PC to the phone quickly and easily.

Without doubt the Nokia N95 is the most advanced phone ever and it will be the top seller of 2007 – until the iPhone is released.
