Nokia profits up 19 percent

Nokia, the worlds largest cell phone manufacturer, has announced net income figures of $1.65 billion and fourth quarter profits 19 percent higher than the previous year.

Sales rose 13 percent to 11.7 billion Euro beating most forecasts.

The average price of a Nokia phone fell to 89 Euros as Nokia battles for market share in emerging markets such as China and India.

Nokia’s share value rose by 4.5 percent after the results were announced.

Shares in the company gained 4.5 percent after the results announcement.
