Nokia is set to revolutionise the audio book market with the launch of a tiny memory card that can store up to 5 novels on a mobile phone.
The card simply slots into the phone in the same way as a hot swappable memory card used by the high end music phones and should be available during 2007.
Audio book sales in the UK stand at around £71 million and the US market is worth £435 million. As more people have music phones it makes sense to offer the books in a format to suit.
We would have expected that the books could be uploaded as MP3 files without resorting to a dedicated chip but it seems that the chip will be a plug and play solution for the mass market.
