Orange expands with 47 new UK stores

by Patrick Altoft on September 2, 2006

Orange is to add a number of UK stores to its growing portfolio after purchasing 47 outlets from O2.

Since O2 took over The Link recently it has re-branded 97 of its stores to be O2 outlets and has allowed Orange to move into 19 new towns with this latest sale. Orange are acting fast on this and hope to have all the stores up and running in time for the Christmas period

Other retailers such as T Mobile, Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse are known to be watching the O2 store sales with interest.

O2 is being careful about selling the stores to its rivals and is offloading them in small lots rather than selling them all to one bidder.

Orange sales boss Mike Newnham said

We’re planning to expand our footprint across Britain’s high streets to give our customers a taste of what the new Orange is all about.
