I for one stick with the iPhone. Apple has that really neat look to it as a business and they added that to their products. The fact that you can download so much stuff from iTunes makes it even more popular. And with the new 3.0 OS, it makes iTunes U accessible from wi-fi and cellular networks, so learning on the road won't mean carrying around books and papers.

The iPhone and Apple products are very "youth-friendly" if you can call it that.

I believe that the reduced point of entry for the iPhone (now $99) was one of the significant points of the recent announcemenet and demonstrates Apples willingness to move from boutique brand to mass market.

The limiting factor long term is Apples operator exclusivity arrangmenets. People will increasingly become resentful of the lack of choice unless this is addressed. I suspect the standard phone will eventually be available on all networks, with the advanced models exclusive to the incumbant operators.

While the Pre uses a sliding keyboard rather than a touch screen like on an Iphone

Wow. Talk about a huge omission. The Pre has BOTH a physical keyboard like a Blackberry AND a capacitive multi-touch screen like the iPhone. No need to choose which you like better, because there's now a device with both. In what way does that "fall a little short of the iPhone"? Sounds to me like the iPhone is the one falling short.
