Sprint launch trials of unlimited voice and data plans

by Patrick Altoft on February 27, 2007

SprintUS cell phone network Sprint Nextel Corp has announced a new unlimited voice and data tariff available to users in the San Francisco area.

The Unlimited Access Pack tariffs come in a $120 and $150 versions. The lower cost plan includes unlimited voice calls, messages and mobile internet access while the $150 plan also includes unlimited internet access on your home PC as well.

Industry analyst William Ho commented that the plans:

Have the effect of a grenade blast, damaging not only wireless competitors but also landline carriers (both traditional wireline and cable) with an attractive wireline substitution story (both voice and data……. although Sprint is the first national carrier to offer unlimited voice, messaging and Web access, it’s still a trial with limited availability.
