Steering wheel mounted cell phone holder

by Patrick Altoft on February 13, 2007

Following last weeks patent for a mobile phone holder that attached to your seatbelt we have just discovered something even better and much more dangerous!

The patent describes a “device for supporting objects on a steering wheel, in particular a device for supporting a cell phone on a steering wheel” and you can see it exactly how it works from the diagram below.

Basically the device holds your cell phone securely at the top of your steering wheel so you never need to miss an important call while driving.
From the patent:

Certain objects, such as notepads, maps and cell phones, are commonly used within a vehicle, whether during longer trips or on a day-to-day basis. However, the layout of many vehicles, in particular automobiles, is rarely conducive to the use of such objects. Typically, vehicle interiors lack any space in which the object may be placed for easy access. Moreover, the use of such objects is often hindered, since the occupant must often simultaneously operate the vehicle.
