Stream CCTV to your mobile for less than 200 pounds with 3rd i

by Patrick Altoft on July 27, 2006

A new product from 3rd-i is set to bring CCTV to the high street by allowing you to link the camera to your mobile phone at a relatively low price.

Mobile phones & CCTV have been linked before but the systems are costly and not widely publicised.

The 3rd-i system is based around a small motion sensitive camera that can be placed to keep an eye on your belongings. You can dial into the camera and view live footage from your mobile phone. If an intruder moves past the camera it can send a text message alert to your phone with a video of the event that triggered the camera. All images are remotely stored for 30 days for viewing after an incident.

Key features of the 3rd-i camera include:

  • Live video streaming directly to your mobile handset that can be viewed from anywhere in the world (subject to coverage)
  • Only authorised handsets permitted to view.
  • Camera can be armed. PIR & motion detection – when activated the camera will call the assigned mobile
  • The camera is wireless and is quick to self-install. It is a plug-and-play device.
  • The camera images are date and time stamped so that they can be used in a court of law. Video images are stored for 30 days.
  • Triband GPRS Camera with SIM
  • The 3rd-i camera is totally mobile as it uses GSM 900/1800 networks.
  • The phone can view multiple cameras.
  • The 3rd-i system is cheaper than current CCTV solutions.

We are informed that the 3rd-i mobile system will be on sale later this year priced at £199.99.
